It is the Levites who are to do the work at the tent of meeting and bear the responsibility for any offenses they commit against it. This is a lasting ordinance for the generations to come. They will receive no inheritance among the Israelites.

“I give to the Levites all the tithes in Israel as their inheritance in return for the work they do while serving at the tent of meeting.

The Lord said to Aaron, “You will have no inheritance in their land, nor will you have any share among them; I am your share and your inheritance among the Israelites.

Eat it as something most holy; every male shall eat it. You must regard it as holy.

You are to have the part of the most holy offerings that is kept from the fire. From all the gifts they bring me as most holy offerings, whether grain or sin or guilt offerings, that part belongs to you and your sons.

Then the Lord said to Aaron, “I myself have put you in charge of the offerings presented to me; all the holy offerings the Israelites give me I give to you and your sons as your portion, your perpetual share.

Then the tabernacle was taken down, and the Gershonites and Merarites, who carried it, set out.

They set out, this first time, at the Lord`s command through Moses.

Then the Israelites set out from the Desert of Sinai and traveled from place to place until the cloud came to rest in the Desert of Paran.

Numbers 10:12

On the twentieth day of the second month of the second year, the cloud lifted from above the tabernacle of the covenant law.

Numbers 10:11

At the Lord`s command they encamped, and at the Lord`s command they set out. They obeyed the Lord`s order, in accordance with his command through Moses.

Numbers 9:23

Whether the cloud stayed over the tabernacle for two days or a month or a year, the Israelites would remain in camp and not set out; but when it lifted, they would set out.

Numbers 9:22

Sometimes the cloud stayed only from evening till morning, and when it lifted in the morning, they set out. Whether by day or by night, whenever the cloud lifted, they set out.

Numbers 9:21

Sometimes the cloud was over the tabernacle only a few days; at the Lord`s command they would encamp, and then at his command they would set out.

Numbers 9:20

When the cloud remained over the tabernacle a long time, the Israelites obeyed the Lord`s order and did not set out.

Numbers 9:19

At the Lord`s command the Israelites set out, and at his command they encamped. As long as the cloud stayed over the tabernacle, they remained in camp.

Numbers 9:18

Whenever the cloud lifted from above the tent, the Israelites set out; wherever the cloud settled, the Israelites encamped.

Numbers 9:17

That is how it continued to be; the cloud covered it, and at night it looked like fire.

Numbers 9:16

On the day the tabernacle, the tent of the covenant law, was set up, the cloud covered it. From evening till morning the cloud above the tabernacle looked like fire.
